Often looked at as the gateway drug car to the rather extreme Chevy Corvette Z06, the last Camaro 1LE was an incredible track car for the money.

Just recently Chevy unveiled the next-coming of the 1LE, and boy does it sound good on paper.

It handles really well.

Thanks to all of the suspension upgrades from the normal LT trim level, Chevy claims that the V6 LT 1LE Camaro can see grip levels of up to .96G. That means it'll go around corners, really, really fast.

For that, you can thank its new Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, upgraded dampers, stabilizer bars, and some other parts from the FE3 suspension package.

It has race car seats for all that grip.

With grip levels that high, you'll need properly-bolstered seats to keep you from sliding all around the cabin. That's where the optional Recaro seats come in.

Recaro is one of the most popular seat manufacturers in the world of track cars and are also seen in many performance oriented street cars. There's no question they'll be a good fit in a car like the 1LE.

You'll never need a GoPro.

With a memory card inserted, the 1LE's optional Performance Data Recorder will keep track of all the performance data you'll need. You know, for when you get home from that track day and want to live it all over again.

The V8 model has some even crazier mechanics.

The new 1LE V8 package has magnetic ride control, which adapts the suspension's dampers whenever necessary for varying road conditions. This basically means that the car analyzes road conditions and adjust the dampers for optimal performance, keeping the car on the road and the driver confident and in control.

The V8 1LE also uses an electronic limited slip differential, as opposed to a more common mechanical differential, that greatly improves how the car handles. It enables it to easily rotate around corners and launch from standstill at a faster rate.

Its motor is borrowed from the Corvette.

The V8 1LE uses the well-proven Corvette LT1 V8 motor. It puts out 455 horsepower with an immense feeling of torque, and rev-happiness.

There's no doubt it'll be a great fit for the 1LE.

With an output of 335 horsepower, that V6 is no slouch either.

The new 1LEs will show up at dealerships in late 2016. Official pricing has not yet been announced.
