Steve Zadesky, the Apple vice president in charge of the initiative, is leaving the company, according to The Wall Street Journal's Daisuke Wakabayashi.

Zadesky has been overseeing project Titan for the last two years and is leaving Apple "for personal reasons," the Journal reports.

Zadesky helped oversee the creation of the iPod and iPhone before leading Apple's car efforts, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has worked at Apple since 1999 and was previously an engineer at Ford.

In September The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple planned to unveil its first car by 2019.
