These robotic suits will give workers superhuman strength

Electronics giant Panasonic has created a robotic exoskeleton that gives the wearer superhuman strength.

Panasonic posted a video earlier this month showing three exoskeleton prototypes that can assist with heavy lifting.

Here's a closer look:

The Panasonic Assist Suit will reduce up to 33 pounds of lower back stress when lifting heavy objects.

It has an Auto-Assist Mechanism feature that can automatically detect when you are about to pick something heavy up to reduce stress at the perfect moment.

Workers can get the suit on themselves by stepping into its leg holes and clipping it around their waist.

And it lasts a full eight hours before needing a re-charge so it can be used throughout the work day.

Another prototype, called the Ninja, can assist users when walking and running. "For instance, hiking up steep mountain paths," Hiromichi Fujimoto, president of Panasonic, said in the video.

There are two motors attached to the lower back of the Ninja suit and power sensors on the soles to mimic natural human movement and making cardio-heavy tasks easier.

Panasonic is also developing a Ninja upper body suit that would allow users to lift and carry heavy objects.

But perhaps the most impressive is Panasonic's Power Loader — a full exoskeleton with four sensors in the hands and feet and 20 motors.

The suit is meant for workers providing disaster relief or for those involved in the construction business.

Panasonic is not the only one pursuing robotic exoskeletons that can give workers added strength. The Department of Defense is two years away from releasing their Iron Man-like suit.

Known as the Tactical Light Operator Suit (Talos), it can repel bullets, help lift heavy objects, and provide lifesaving oxygen. The suit also comes with 3D audio; heating and cooling systems; and embedded computers.
