After over 50 years, America's favorite doll is finally getting a realistic makeover.

Earlier today, Mattel announced in Time that the beloved Barbie dolls will now be available in three new body types: curvy, petite, and tall. This is in addition to the "original" Barbie doll, which will also still be available for purchase.

Here's a look at the news dolls, which in addition to body types, also have new face shapes, eye colors, and skin tones. The updated dolls are part of the Barbie Fashionista line which will be released throughout 2016.

The original Barbie, with her extremely long legs and busty figure, has long drawn criticism for setting unrealistic body standards for young women. If a real woman had Barbie's proportions, she'd be about six feet tall with a 39" bust, 18" waist, and 33" hips.

Instead, the new doll line — complete with more realistic body types, seven skin tones, 18 eye colors, and 18 hairstyles — offers Barbie lovers, both young and old, the opportunity to own a doll that looks more like a real woman.

It's "the biggest change in Barbie's 57-year history," reports Time. Mattel's decision to update the doll comes after the company's sales fell 20% between 2012 and 2014. With competitors like Lego and Hasbro overtaking Mattel in the toy market for girls, it was time for a serious change.

Online, reactions have so far been positive.

People seem very excited about the new dolls.

It looks like these changes bode well for Barbie's future.
