Jaguar's newest sports car can go 200 miles per hour

The Jaguar F-Type is an already stunning car in both looks and performance. But with the F-Type SVR, which was announced Tuesday, Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations department just kicked that all up a notch.

Through a bit of tuning, Jaguar used the same V8 motor, transmission, and all-wheel drive setup as in the previously top-line F-Type V8R to push 25 more horsepower out of the F-Type, and get the car from zero to 60 mph in .5 of second quicker than before.

55 pounds have also been shed from the F-Type R. When optioned with the lighter, yet sturdier carbon ceramic brake system and some other carbon fiber bits, weight savings can go up to 110 lbs. That's a lot.

On the outside, not much has changed. An aggressive-looking carbon fiber rear spoiler has been added, as have some minor tweaks to the rear diffuser and to the front splitter. This all helps keep the car planted when traveling near top speed.

To accommodate the extra speed, some suspension parts have been upgraded on the SVR. New, wider tires are also used.

Jaguar will debut the new F-Type SVR Coupes at the Geneva Motor Show in March, but it is now available for order at about $126,000. The F-Type SVR is also available in Roadster guise, but it doesn't appear that the open-top model is able to clear the 200 MPH speed mark. The SVR Roadster starts at about $129,000.
