Apple's next iPhone, which will probably be called the iPhone 7, will have a 3D Touch screen with "similar technology and structure" as the iPhone 6S, according to notoriously accurate KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a note sent to Mac Rumors.
That's to say that the next iPhone will also have a 3D Touch display, and we can expect similar performance and functionality as we currently see on the iPhone 6S.
The 3D Touch screen on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus adds a new layer of control on iPhones. With a hard press on an app's icon, for example, you can bring up a pop-up shortcut menu for common tasks.
The biggest issue with 3D Touch is that only a relative few third-party apps are compatible with 3D Touch. It's also not clear which apps are compatible with 3D Touch, which results in uncertainty whether or not a user should even try using 3D Touch at all.
Kuo's report also noted that the iPad Air 3, which will be released in the first half of 2016, won't feature 3D Touch due to "production issues within Apple's supply chain."
The iPhone 7 will likely launch in fall of 2016.
