New York based artist Trina Merry masterfully uses paint to turn her models into amazing human chameleons.

In her "Lost In Wonder" series, Merry takes her knack for body art and combines it with the wonders of the world. From the Great Wall of China to Chichen Itza in Mexio, Merry's artwork is so detailed you'll forget there is even a person in her photos at all. 

"I really wanted to understand what makes a place 'great'," Merry explains in the series' bio. "I was amazed that, due to the nature of contemporary tourism, so many people idealize these places but they leave with some selfies, a branded trinket and a bit of disappointment."

While the photos look effortless, Merry says getting them just right was quite the process.

Her model, Kyle, suffered mild hypothermia getting this shot on a particularly cold day in China.

And Merry got second-degree sunburns while shooting on Easter Island.

This shot took the longest of the series. Merry says she spent three hours perfectly camouflaging her model in front of the Colosseum in Rome.

Merry strove to respect the cultural significance of each site she photographed.

"We made sure to leave no trace and also tried to work with local security whenever possible," Merry told Tech Insider.
