HBO released 3 new scenes from 'Game of Thrones' that tell us a lot about next season

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season six.

In addition to a second "Game of Thrones" season six trailer packed with new footage, and an exclusive Jon Snow related snippet, HBO has released three new extended scenes. The first two are from episode one — "The Red Woman" — while the third is from episode three.

Let's dive in. We'll start with the first clip, featuring Sansa and Theon.

Sansa and Theon are running frantically through the northern landscape. They've clearly just escaped from Winterfell, so the first episode must pick up immediately following the season five finale events. Theon is limping, the remnants of Reekdom are still affecting him. Sansa pauses, but he tells her they can't stop.

You can hear dogs barking faintly in the background — Ramsay's hounds are on the scent. The clip ends right when Sansa and Theon reach a semi-frozen river. HBO released some stills from season six and the one below may be showing what happens next: Theon is desperately trying to convince Sansa to get into the freezing water. It's their only hope of throwing the dogs off the scent.

Now onto clip number two. Cersei and Jaime are speaking in King's Landing, and it's clearly a conversation taking place after Cersei has learned her only daughter, Myrcella, is dead.

Cersei recalls the first time she saw a dead body — her mother's, Joanna Lannister. Joanna died from complications after giving birth to Tyrion, forever cementing the resentment Cersei felt for her youngest brother. Jaime briefly tries to comfort Cersei before the scene ends. Based on their positioning and comparing it to a scene shown in the trailer, we know Jaime will tell her: "We’re the only ones who matter, and everything they’ve taken from us we’re going to take back ... and more."

We know these two scenes are going to be in the very first episode of season six. But the next clip, we learned from HBO, won't air until episode three. Interestingly, the scene revolves around Daenerys and her arrival at Vaes Dothrak, the only Dothraki city. We must not get many other scenes with Daenerys in the first two episodes.

Watch it below:

She's the captive of the Dothraki, who found her alone during the season five finale. They clearly don't respect her, sarcastically referring to her as "Great Khaleesi" while telling her to "move her ass." When she finally arrives in front of the new khal, he says "welcome home." Daenerys hasn't belonged with a group of Dothraki since her husband Khal Drogo died in season one. But — according to tradition — Daenerys was supposed to return to Vaes Dothrak to live among the Dosh Khaleen, a revered group of widowed khaleesis. There's a chance this new group of Dothraki will attempt to force Daenerys to settle down in Vaes Dothrak, her "proper" home.
