A new 'Game of Thrones' clip backs up a popular Jon Snow theory for next season

"Game of Thrones" actor Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) appeared on "Conan," and the late night show was given an exclusive clip from season six.

The scene was an extended version of the gripping final moments of the full-length trailer, when Davos was seen in a room with Jon Snow's dead body, Ghost, and a group of Night's Watch men.

Take a look at the clip below, which starts around 1:45.

There are a few big takeaways here. First, as we guessed after the first trailer aired, Davos is clearly teaming up with some of Jon Snow's loyal brothers and trying to protect his body. On the other side of the door is Alliser Thorne, Olly, and the rest of the men who stabbed Jon at the end of season five. The popular fan theory is that Jon will resurrected, so it would make sense that Alliser wouldn't want Jon's body in the hands of anyone who wishes to see him alive again.

Ghost, hackles raised and growling menacingly, is an exciting sight. The direwolf only made a few brief appearances in season five, but the new episode budget of at least $10 million clearly means we'll get to see more of Ghost.

Interestingly, there was no sight of Melisandre. We had thought she might also be in the room, and the reason Alliser and company are trying to break in was because she is preparing to resurrect him with fire magic (this is the running theory about his return). But maybe the plan is to get Jon out of Castle Black before they try anything with it.

We'd personally just love to see Ghost rip through that door and kill Olly, but for now we will have to use our imaginations. This scene is likely from the premiere episode — titled "The Red Woman" — which airs on April 24. Until then, let's hope more clips are on the way from the late-night circuit.
