Emma Watson, the actress known best for being Hermione in the "Harry Potter" series of films,  believes we should all be feminists and learn as much as we can about how to achieve gender equality.

This week, Watson announced that she is starting a monthly feminist book club.

Watson asked her 20.4 million Twitter followers to recommend a name for the club and its first novel. She eventually chose Gloria Steinem's "My Life on the Road," and decided to call the club "Our Shared Shelf." She made it official with a group on Goodreads

"My Life on the Road" is a memoir by activist Gloria Steinem. It follows her work in social advocacy, from her travels among women in India to her political campaigning at the 1977 National Women’s Conference to the founding of "Ms. Magazine."

"I have started reading as many books and essays about equality as I can get my hands on. There is so much amazing stuff out there! Funny, inspiring, sad, thought-provoking, empowering!" Watson wrote on the Goodread's page. "I’ve been discovering so much that, at times, I’ve felt like my head was about to explode…I decided to start a Feminist book club, as I want to share what I’m learning and hear your thoughts too."

Every month, the club will share their thoughts about a different book that the community chooses.

So far, the club's Goodreads forum has 106 threads with hundreds of posts. It's already filled with discussions of intersectionality, other feminist reads, and messages of thanks toward Watson for starting the club.

The British actress is also a Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women. In 2014, she founded the HeForShe campaign in partnership with UN Women. It calls for global gender equality, and works to engage men as allies for women's rights.
