General Motors just released more key details about its Tesla competitor

For the last year, General Motors has been teasing its Chevrolet Bolt, releasing details about the upcoming crossover in bits and pieces.

Early last year we learned that the car would have a range of more than 200 miles per charge and cost about $30,o00 after incentives.

Last week at CES, the company finally showed off a production model of the Bolt and confirmed that the company would begin selling the crossover at the end of 2016. And on Monday, the company revealed some more technical details about the car at the Detroit Auto Show.

For starters, GM confirmed the Bolt will have a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Using a standard 240-volt charger, it will take about nine hours to fully charge the vehicle, meaning you can get 50 miles in range with less than two hours of charging, the company said last week at CES. However, using a DC fast charging, the Bolt battery can get up to 90 miles in range after a 30 minute charge.

As GM has previously said, the 288 cell battery will give the car a total range of more than 200 miles. However, it has not yet disclosed how much farther that range may be.

Also revealed on Monday, the Bolt will feature a 150-kW/200 horsepower motor with 266 lb-ft torque. It will reach a top speed of 91 miles per hour and go from zero to 60 in less than seven seconds.

We still don't know everything about the car, but we know enough to know we like it.

Its range is comparable to an early Tesla Model S and at $30,000 it costs a fraction of the price.

But its range isn't the only thing that is impressive. Tech Insider took the Bolt for a test drive last week at CES and found the car is full of other innovative features, including wireless charging and automatic lane keeping assist.
