We finally know everything about the iPhone SE

Despite previous rumors and reports, Apple’s 4-inch iPhone that will be revealed on Monday will look “identical” to the iPhone 5S, 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman reports.

When many others thought this phone would be called the “iPhone 6c,” Gurman was the first to report the name would actually be the “iPhone 5SE,” due to its similarities to the iPhone 5S. He was later the first to report Apple had settled on the name “iPhone SE.”

According to this new report, the iPhone SE will have the same chamfered edges as the iPhone 5S, as well as the round volume buttons and power button on the top.

Like the iPhone 5S, the speaker and microphone will be on the bottom of the phone, and the back of the phone will be metal in the center and glass on the top and bottom of the phone.

That said, the iPhone SE is only identical to the iPhone 5S in looks only, according to Gurman. Inside the phone, the iPhone SE will feature an A9 processor and an M9 chip — the same chipsets from the iPhone 6s — which will allow people to always use Siri simply by saying “Hey Siri.”

The iPhone SE will also come with an NFC chip for Apple Pay, and come with updates to its connectivity hardware for WiFi and cellular.

Gurman also confirms the camera architecture in the iPhone SE will be identical to the iPhone 6s: it will feature a 12-megapixel camera with 4K video support, as well as the Live Photos feature.

The report also says the iPhone SE will come in just two configurations: 16 GB and 64 GB. It will also come in the same colors as the iPhone 6s, including rose gold.

Since it’s replacing the iPhone 5S in Apple’s iPhone lineup, the iPhone SE will reportedly cost $450 for the basic 16 GB model.

On the bright side, Gurman says the iPhone SE will fit into existing iPhone 5S cases, which should be great for the hundreds of millions of people who still own a 4-inch iPhone.

This report gives us the first full look at the iPhone SE. And it sounds much more like a beefed-up iPhone 5S rather than a tiny iPhone 6S, hence the name.

Gurman also mentioned one other non-iPhone detail in his report: Apple’s new iPad, which will also be announced next week, will have the same 12-megapixel camera with 4K video support as the iPhone 6s and new iPhone SE.

Check out 9to5Mac for their full report. We’ll learn more about both of these devices at Apple’s event on Monday. Tech Insider will be in attendance and covering the event all day.
