It was about time the iPhone's Messages app got some new features.

Other messaging apps like Facebook Messenger and Snapchat offer much more interesting and lively ways to communicate, while Messages for years remained a stagnant platform to exchange static words and photos.

But Apple changed all that.

You can see what the camera sees when you want to send a photo or video.

 

Emoji are now 3 times bigger than before.

Messages will recognize what you're typing and find a relevant emoji so you don't have to search for one.

And Messages will even highlight words that can be turned into emojis.

Bubble Effects will make animations to emphasize certain messages, like make Congrats more exciting than a static text bubble.
