(Update: Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has said that Amazon will share details of "all new, top of the line" Kindle next week. While we still think today's deals are solid, those interested in buying a Kindle Voyage may be best served waiting for news on the new device. The original article is below.)

It’s a busy day for Amazon deals: Aside from discounting its Fire TV media streamer, the company’s also applied significant discounts to its Kindle family of e-readers. Here, though, the deals only apply to Amazon Prime members.

If you are a subscriber, you can currently grab the standard Kindle for $50, the step-up Kindle Paperwhite for $90, and the highest-end Kindle Voyage for $150. That’s good for $30 off the usual going rates for the Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite, and $50 off the Kindle Voyage’s $200 street price. The cuts should be applied at checkout.

All of these are among the lowest prices we’ve seen for the three devices. The Paperwhite deal in particular matches an all-time low, and sits $10 below than the fairly regular $100 promotions that device has had in the past year.

The Kindle line is just about synonymous with e-readers, and each device remains a good buy for anyone who’d prefer a longer-lasting, dedicated reading device over a more featured tablet.

If we had to pick one, though, we’d say the Kindle Paperwhite is still the best choice for most people. It ditches the page-turning bezels and auto-adjusting backlight of the Voyage, and it’s not as nice in the hand, but its screen is just as sharp, it has access to the same big digital marketplace, and it costs significantly less.

If this deal lets you afford the Voyage, it’s the best e-reader Amazon makes, but we don’t think the differences are so significant for those looking for value. The entry-level Kindle, meanwhile, is fine for the money, but its screen is noticeably lower-res, and doesn’t have a built-in light.

Either way, if you’re a Prime member who’s been interested in a new e-reader, today’s a good time to act. Just know that each device here still starts with ad support baked in.
