The Apple Watch has been on sale since April, and it's far from a runaway hit.

Wristly, an independent research firm, asked 330 dissatisfied Apple Watch owners why they were displeased with the device, and the answers were telling.

The top reason participants cited for not liking the Apple Watch was a lack of value. The second reason they cited was that the device was "too limited."

The survey also found how quickly people tend to stop wearing the Apple Watch, among a few other interesting tidbits:

  • When it came to shelving the Apple Watch, 55% of participants who stopped wearing it reported they wore the watch for at least two weeks before giving it up. 28% of those who no longer wear the watch said they stopped wearing it within two weeks, while 17% said they made the decision within days.
  • The majority of Apple Watch deserters keep the device "in a drawer."
  • "53% of the respondents reported being annoyed that the time is not always displayed and having to 'tilt' to wake-up Apple Watch to see the time."
  • There is a "a significant negative bias" towards the Apple Watch from people working in the tech industry. 74% of unsatisfied participants said they had a tech-related job. Even John Gruber, a well-known writer who follows Apple closely and is generally positive about its products, recently admitted that he had stopped wearing his Apple Watch every day
  • The five main reasons people are dissatisfied with the Apple Watch are: a lack of value, the device is too limited, slow performance, poor battery life, and it being annoying to check the time on.
