Weather service Wezzoo has created a smart umbrella that will make sure you never step out into the rain unprepared again.
The umbrella, dubbed the Oombrella, has raised a little over $19,000 of its $65,549 Kickstarter goal with 31 days left. It comes with a little capsule that attaches to the end of the handle that has four sensors to measure temperature, humidity, air pressure, and sunlight.
The sensors communicate with your phone over Bluetooth and will send you an alert if it's going to rain.
The umbrella's capsule can actually be bought separately and attached to a different handle to turn any ordinary umbrella into a smart one.
But there's still a case for buying the actual Oombrella since the ribs are made of kevlar, allowing it to withstand harsh weather like snow or heavy rain better than ordinary umbrellas. Plus, it's pretty cool looking:
There's also a buzzer and light inside the capsule that will activate when you're getting an incoming call (though I wouldn't recommend pulling your phone out in a rainstorm). Wezzoo also put a screw thread on the top of the umbrella so you can attach a GoPro to it.
