Meet the bodybuilding twin sisters who are lifting their way to Instagram fame

Jenny and Lucy West are identical twins training for the upcoming National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association show — their first ever fitness competition.

As The Daily Mail reports, Jenny and Lucy, who began lifting just a few years ago — are currently the only female twin fitness professionals in the entire world. They are also serving as online fitness and nutrition coaches, offering their expertise to anyone who needs guidance.

Tech Insider spoke with them to learn more about their new lifestyle.

Jenny and Lucy are 29 years old and live in England. Jenny began seriously lifting weights three years ago, while Lucy took up the hobby just last year.

In just two months, Jenny and Lucy's shared Instagram account gained over 8,000 followers. Their bodybuilding ambitions have completely changed their lives.

At first, the women were worried lifting weights would make them “more bulky,” but their fears were quelled when they began dropping dress sizes.

“We were hooked on the fact that we could use weights to change our shape and silhouette," they explained. "We always wanted a curvier butt/gluts and narrower waist and found we could suddenly start to 'mold' our body how we wanted it.”

Then the twins began to really to research, reading up on weight training and learning more about fitness and bodybuilding.

Now they weight train 4 to 5 times a week. "Typically we will train hamstring and glutes together twice a week, shoulders on their own, back and triceps together and biceps with maybe shoulders again."

Jenny and Lucy almost always hit the gym together. "Training together ... is so beneficial — especially with someone who knows you as well as a twins know each other," they explained.

The twins eat up to eight home cooked meals per day. Four to five of those meals consist of “salmon, chicken, and sweet potato with green vegetables.”

Their other meals are "usually oats with whey protein and nuts, as well as chicken stir fry or homemade lean mince beef chili.”

But they do indulge sometimes. “For a cheat meal [our favorites] is a real Italian pepperoni pizza with Ben and Jerry's ice-cream for dessert.”

Jenny and Lucy offered up advice to anyone looking to start changing their lifestyle: “You have to be realistic, not with your goals, but with your approach! Don't say ‘I am going to go to the gym 6 days a week’ if you aren't able to.”

“All in all, we really do believe that the body is your temple, and leading a healthy lifestyle is something we are honored to do,” Lucy and Jenny wrote.
