Since "The Legend of Zelda" is an iconic video game series that's been around for several decades, some of its components have been a bit slow to adjust with the times. And that's immediately clear from the moment you jump into most "Legend of Zelda" games, because their introductory sections are painfully long.
In fact, a study of every "Zelda" game showed that since the series started, the tutorial sections have been getting longer and longer, from two minutes in "A Link to the Past" to over 70 minutes in "Skyward Sword" for the Wii.
Thankfully, the newest game, "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," bucks that trend in a big way.
During a live demo of the game shown off at Nintendo's E3 presentation, we got a chance to see how it plays from the very start.
When the "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" opens, you'll see Link awaken in a mysterious place called the "Shrine of Resurrection." From there, you'll open a few chests containing some clothes and other basic items, and that's just about it.
As soon as you leave the Shrine of Resurrection, you'll be in the game's massive open world and the game begins. All in the span of about a minute or two.
"The Legend of Zelda" is finally evolving with the times, and we couldn't be happier.
