If you've ever worked so late that you thought about sleeping at the office, a 19-year-old designer could have the solution for you.

Aqil Raharjo came up with the Schnap — a hammock bed you can put under your desk — after watching a friend stay late at school working on projects.

"The idea came up while observing a friend of mine who seemed exhausted and told me that she didn't sleep for two days," he tells Tech Insider. "However, the inspiration itself came from a Facebook group that [was created] to share funny pictures of sleeping people in my university."

Raharjo, an Indonesian graphic design student studying at Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, Canada, decided to design an alternative to napping on the floor or a hard desk. The idea was born.

At the time, he was already working on other concepts for a five-week long school assignment, but once he thought of the Schnap hammock, there was no going back.

He dropped the other project ideas and finished designing the Schnap and its packaging in just one week.

"Initially, I had a lot of different ideas in mind, but I decided to go with this idea one week before the project was due," he says. "I had to remake everything."

His final design included table protectors and clamps to hook the hammock to the desk ,as well as rope extensions so the Schnap could fit under any size table. The hammock rolls up and fits into its carrying bag, which can also double as a pillow if you stuff it with something soft.

The "Schnap" (a hybid of school and nap) is now in the research and development stage. Raharjo says he’s looking for investors and hoping to get the Schnap into mass production soon.

"We definitely plan on making it public," he tells TI. "We would also like to have it available online."

While he's still not sure what the price will be or when the product will be available, Raharjo thinks there will be a demand.

"It's an accessible sleeping environment for people who have to stay overnight or take a quick nap at the office or school," he says. "It's a product that will benefit all kinds of people."

Of course, you could always just go home and finish your work in the morning. But for the truly desperate, the Schnap is coming soon.
