Samsung's excellent Gear S2 smartwatch will work with your iPhone starting sooner than later — some time this year, even.
It's the first Samsung smartwatch to offer compatibility with Apple's iOS devices; The two companies are notorious competitors.
It's also our favorite smartwatch — the world's best, even over the Apple Watch — for several reasons:
- It's blessedly simple, and easy to use.
- It's gorgeous, which is especially important for a watch.
- And it's thin, so it doesn't stand out quite as much as the competition (in a good way!).
One of the main reasons why it's so intuitive to use is its rotating bezel, which works well for navigating Samsung's surprisingly easy to use software (dubbed "Tizen smartwatch OS," unfortunately).
Tizen OS is simple, clean, and intuitive, whereas Apple's Watch OS is regularly criticized for being confusing to use.
Samsung didn't offer a more specific timetable on when to expect iPhone support for the Gear S2, but the company did announce that the Classic model of the Gear S2 will receive a premium platinum and rose gold color treatment. Perfect for matching your premium platinum or rose gold iPhone!
