This game about an octopus masquerading as a human is amazing

Video games are rarely surprising. Oh, I'm a super soldier who's getting revenge for the murder of his family? Yawn.

That's why, when my best friend and I were looking for a fun game to play together, we immediately stopped searching when we found "Octodad: Dadliest Catch."

Here's what it's like.

In "Octodad," you play as an octopus. He is also a dad.

But, because he's so crafty, everyone thinks he's a human.

The entire game is about keeping up the illusion that you are not, in fact, a fish pretending to be a person.

But, because you have a bunch of squirmy tentacles, the most basic tasks are INCREDIBLY difficult.

You have to control each one of Octodad's limbs individually, so cleaning up the living room becomes immensely challenging.

When you go to the grocery store, you have to be careful not to tip anyone off to the fact that you're an octopus in a business suit.

Totally normal. Nothing to see here, folks.

And when you play with a friend, each of you controls two of his limbs. You'll either be in charge of his right arm/left leg or left arm/right leg.

So, something as simple as mowing the lawn ends up looking like this:

In every single level, we'd inevitably cry from laughing so hard. We could barely complete the most basic tasks and it was hysterical to watch.

Taking your kids to an aquarium should be fun, but in "Octodad," it's a Herculean test of will.

And at its heart, there's a surprisingly sweet message about what it means to feel like an impostor.

Because, haven't we ALL felt like an octopus in a five-star restaurant at some point? For everyone else, it seems so simple!

Who knows? Maybe I'm just a fish in a business suit, too. I'll never tell.

One thing's for sure: "Octodad: Dadliest Catch" is the most fun I've ever had playing a video game with another person.
