This 3-wheeled car is like an electric car from the past

The gasoline Morgan 3-Wheeler is a peppy, unique, little dog of a British open-top car thing that delivers a driving experience like none other. The new EV3, announced Monday, is an electric version of the 3-Wheeler with all of that stuff, but without the addicting rumble from the motorcycle-borrowed engine.

At right around 1,100 lbs, the EV3 is extremely lightweight. This means less weight for the batteries and electric motors to push around and a longer driving range than what a heavier vehicle might have.

The EV3 has a range of 150 miles, a top speed of 90 miles per hour, and can go from zero to 60 MPH in 9 seconds. Not bad for Morgan's first electric car.

The body is largely constructed using aluminum and some carbon-based materials. Though a little less common and a bit more expensive than some other kinds of automotive body parts, these materials help keep the weight down.

Morgan hasn't announced exact pricing just yet, but they did say that the EV3 should cost just about as much as the gasoline 3-Wheeler, which starts at about $46,000 for US-bound models.

Will it be just as fun to drive as the gasoline version? Maybe not. But it'll probably be close.

At least I finally have a new favorite electric car!
