Mercedes’ sleek-looking “Concept Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile” made its US debut at CES this week — and it got a tech upgrade for its big premiere.
The company showed off an enhanced interface and user experience design inside the car at the show, which had previously not been seen.
Mercedes partnered with the chip maker Nvidia and The Foundry, a creative software firm, to show 3D renderings in the car in real-time. The car includes Nvidia Drive, the company's new artificial intelligence supercomputer for cars.
The IAA concept, which was first revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show last year, is a four-door coupe that can change shapes at high-speeds to reduce drag and drive more efficiently.
When the car hits 50 miles per hour, it basically morphs into a different form.
The car is also decked out with a wireless networking system that enables it to communicate with other cars so that it can do things like warn other vehicles about accidents or traffic.
