Louis Vuitton's next major model is a 'Final Fantasy' character

Few people associate video games with high fashion, but Louis Vuitton and Square Enix are teaming up to alter perceptions.

Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere posted the first images of Lightning, clad in LV's Spring-Summer 2016 line, to his Instagram account.

Lightning is the star of the "Final Fantasy XIII" trilogy, and the second female lead in a "Final Fantasy" game. Ghesquiere and co. are working with longtime "Final Fantasy" designer Tetsuya Nomura.

There are only two images of Lightning as a LV model thus far, but we'd expect many more as we progress toward the spring season. By comparison, here's a shot of South Korean actress Doona Bae taking a more human approach to modeling:

"Final Fantasy" is a solid choice for fashion models — the game is full of highly-detailed, unrealistically portioned characters. "Final Fantasy" characters are such a solid choice, in fact, that Prada employed "Final Fantasy" models for its Spring 2012 menswear line:
