The very first electric double-decker bus just arrived in London

London just introduced its first all-electric double-decker bus to the public.

The new buses can last an entire day touring London since they boast a range of 180 miles on a single charge, Gizmodo first reported. But the buses cost $500,000 to build, so London is only releasing five for now on Route 98, with more slated to come.

The buses will transport passengers from Willesden in northwest London down to Russell Square starting next month.

London is not the only city experimenting with all-electric buses. Citymobil2, a program partially funded by the European Union, is bringing driverless electric buses to various European cities. Trials have taken place from the tiny Greek city of Trikala to Vantaa, Finland.
