We tried to smash things coated in a spray that makes them almost indestructible

Line-X is a spray that makes things almost indestructible.

My dad's had it on the beds of his trucks for years to protect them from tools, ladder racks, and whatever other sharp objects he has to throw in there to do construction.

The company that makes the coating stopped by Tech Insider with a Jeep coated in the stuff, which I got to smash on a Manhattan street:

But the real fun began when they gave us everyday objects they had coated with Line-X. We went up to the roof to see if we could smash them and their noncoated counterparts.

Here's how we did:

Line-X has been around for decades.

Line-X is so strong that it's used on the walls of the Pentagon to protect people in the event of a bombing.

But today, we're looking at a more lighthearted application. The company sprayed some everyday objects for us to smash.

The red party cup was crushed, but the Line-X cup could hold my entire weight.

Clay pigeons are famously breakable. The other one we had broke when the wind blew it off the table. The Line-X-coated clay pigeon bounced right along, though.

I had to throw the un-coated cantaloupe pretty hard to actually break it, but the Line-X one had hops.

Breaking raw eggs is so fun. Breaking Line-X eggs is also fun, and much less messy.

Obviously Line-X is a better application for truck beds than for foods.

That doesn't mean it should be used only for serious applications.
