When Brooklyn resident Leonard Lasek accidentally gave away his new wife Katie’s copy of “Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret,” Katie was devastated. The book, one of Blume's first literary hits, had immense sentimental value.

Lasek began posting fliers around her neighborhood asking if anyone had seen or taken her copy of "Margaret."

Sadness, in Greenpoint.

“I accidentally gave this book away on Saturday July 25th in a box on the corner of Green & Franklin streets in Greenpoint,” the flier reads. “The book is extremely important to my wife. It was a keepsake from her mother and is irreplaceable. On the inside cover is a note that reads 'Christmas 1991.' If you happened to pick up this book can you please get in touch with me.”

Instagrammers in Brooklyn saw the fliers and brought it to Blume’s attention.

Blume tweeted about it, responding sympathetically with an offer to send Lasek a similar copy, though she worried it would not be that exact cover, which was the 1986 paper back

She enlisted the internet’s help to make contact with Lasek and even included her own personal email for anyone who could give her the address.

The internet found Lasek, who could not thank Blume enough for sending the book. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he tweeted. “Marriage saved!!!”

Though Blume remains hopeful that Katie’s original book will still show up, she is sending a book her way with the hopes that Katie's new version of "Margaret" will give her a wonderful story to tell.

Blume joins the ranks of Twitter savant J.K. Rowling, whose tweets about everything from her "Harry Potter" franchise to taking on Twitter trolls dissing the 2015 Wimbledon champion, Serena Williams are internet legend.
