The former Apple CEO depicted by Jeff Daniels in the new "Steve Jobs" movie has praise for the film, but warns that it doesn't provide a full picture of the Apple co-founder.

John Sculley, who led Apple from 1983 to 1993, told The Wall Street Journal that the Aaron Sorkin movie is "extraordinary entertainment."

But he also said that "if one tries to come away with a complete picture of who was Steve Jobs, they wouldn’t get it from this movie."

Sculley gives Daniels' portrayal of him high marks, noting that the actor “accurately summarized a lot of the things I felt then, and feel now.”

Daniels played the lead role in Sorkin's hit show on HBO, "The Newsroom," a series that was nominated for six Emmy Awards.

In the film, Sculley and Jobs, played by Michael Fassbender, clash over boardroom drama and their contrasting management styles at Apple. The movie is already generating Oscar buzz for its dramatic portrayal of Jobs, and Sorkin has said it approaches the Apple cofounder like "a painting and not a photograph."

"Steve Jobs" opens in select theaters October 9.
