Meet the 'Instagram Husband,' a hilarious guy who captures our obsession with social media

In his now-viral YouTube video "Instagram Husband," Jeff Houghton, a comedian from Springfield, Missouri, pokes fun at women who make their significant others take pictures of them for Instagram.

"Behind every cute girl on instagram is a guy like me ... and a brick wall," Houghton explains in the beginning of the satirical video.

Houghton uploaded "Instagram Husbands" to the YouTube channel for his comedy show, The Mystery Hour, on December 8. It's already topped 2.5 million views.

"I'm basically a human selfie stick," says one of the husbands in the video.

"I've had to delete all of the apps on my phone just to make room for more photos," explains another.

Houghton told Adweek that being anybody can be an "Instagram husband." It's not just a term for men.

"Instagram Husband is a term to describe any person thrust into the role of photographer for the sake of their loved one who is obsessed with pictures, regardless of relationship status, gender, age, sexual orientation," Houghton said. Basically, you don't have to be a husband, per se, in the common definition."
