Though Pinterest has a reputation for being a female-dominated social media platform, it does have male users, including the popular Pinner Josh Draper.

A 45-year-old father, architect at design firm PrePost, as well as adjunct professor at Columbia University, Draper lives in Brooklyn and is one of over 50 million users who flock to Pinterest to pin vacation spots, food ideas, and home decor. He has over two million followers on the social media platform as well as over 170 boards where he pins everything from inspiring quotes to pictures of hippos.

In a recent article for MEL, Dan Nosowitz spoke to Draper about what it's like to be "The Most Pinteresting Man in the World." Draper had plenty of insight about the popularity of Pinterest.

But we were curious about what his Pinterest even looked like.

Keep scrolling to see what it's like to be one of Pinterest's top male pinners.

His 175 "boards" — or collections of images — are extremely varied.

Some of his boards have thousands of pictures.

He told Nosowitz one of his favorite things to do on Pinterest is respond to the comments — an underused feature of the site.

Many of his boards — like "spaces" or "modular" — are design-oriented. Draper says he often uses Pinterest in his career as an architect.

Other boards — like "messages" — are more inspirational, and he tries to post content he thinks women will like. “I will post some political things related to women, because I know I’ll get the response that I want, or that I crave, to have dialogue about it,” Draper said.

One of his most-followed boards is "products" with over 3,300 pins and nearly 2 million subscribers.

“People have this idea of Pinterest that it’s like nails and hair and recipes, and it’s really not that,” Draper told Nosowitz.

Draper says Pinterest will let you pin most anything, including typical "guy" stuff like cars, guns, cigars, or even watches.

But that's not to say he doesn't pin things or create boards that are stereotypically considered "girly." Like DIY projects.

Some of the boards are unique. In "hippopotomy," Draper writes "I suddenly need to know more, much more, about hippos. They are as cute as they are ferocious."

For Draper, Pinterest is all about creating unique content and providing his followers constant things to look at.

“There’s one thing that’s more important than the pins you gather, and that’s the people you follow,” he told Nosowitz. "I gather who I think are the best people out there and then I curate them.”
