We'll be getting a new "Independence Day" movie this summer 20 years after the first film with Will Smith debuted in 1996. Fox released a new trailer for "Independence Day: Resurgence" Friday to coincide with Earth Day, because what better way to celebrate the planet than by thinking about a possible alien invasion?
The trailer focuses on the fact that this movie takes place 20 years after the first movie. Since the first alien attack, the alien technology has been used to supposedly build up the world's defenses against another attack. They'll be put to the test when the alien's return for round two this summer.
The best reason to check out this film is that the majority of the original cast will return — Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, and Jeff Goldblum. The one big star who won't return will be Smith. His character was written out of the sequel.
