Among those who have departed Westeros, Hodor will forever tug at our heartstrings.

At the "Game of Thrones" panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, the actor who plays him received the warmest welcome from fans.

Actor Kristian Nairn was the last of the cast members to enter on stage, sending the audience into a full-on frenzy. They chanted "Hold the door!" as Nairn took his seat at the panel.

It's hard to make out the chant in this video, but you can tell fans cheered loudest for the actor.

Here, we see Nairn form a heart with his hands. Hodor was feeling the love.

Hodor was a gentle giant of few words — one word, to be exact — in the series who gave his life to save Bran in the most devastating episode of season six.

He stood barricading an army of White Walkers while Bran and his companion escaped into the woods during episode five "The Door." Meera Reed yelled, "Hold the door, hold the door," as they fled into the darkness.

As the White Walkers attacked Hodor in the present, slowly killing him, Bran accidentally warged the past-Hodor (a young boy named Wylis) into his future self. The scene cut back and forth between grown-up Hodor holding the door and younger Hodor experiencing his own death yelling "hold the door."

Eventually, all he could say was "hodor," a sad mashup of the words that would become his name and the only word he would use for the rest of his life.

Fans predicted the huge moment years ago.

"The poor guy is just asking someone to hold the door for him, since he's always carrying someone else around," Westeros.org user Myridden guessed in a forum discussion.

We're glad fans at Comic-Con finally gave Nairn the recognition he deserved.
