'Game of Thrones' fans freaked out when they thought George R.R. Martin had died

Legendary Beatles producer George Martin died on Wednesday. But among the tweets and Facebook posts expressing grief and condolences for the man's family, there was a small outcry among some very confused "Game of Thrones" fans

People thought George R.R. Martin — American author and creator of "A Song of Ice and Fire" —  had died. 

Fans went into a panic not simply because the beloved author would be dearly missed, but because there are still two books in his epic series that have yet to be written and published.

"Game of Thrones" fans can rest easy — the author is alive and healthy. In the meantime, those who knew and appreciated Sir George Martin's work as a producer will mourn his passing.
