8 'Game of Thrones' costumes you can easily make yourself

"Game of Thrones" is officially the most popular HBO series of all time. That means Halloween parties everywhere are now filled with fans dressed up as the most memorable characters.

Though some people dedicate months to preparing replicas of costumes, other party-goers opt for less labor-intensive work.

Plenty of fans want to easily recreate the iconic looks of the many queens, warriors, and villains of Westeros, but aren’t sure where to start.

To make it easier, we’ve collected a list of the most popular DIY "Game of Thrones" costumes from around the internet.

White Walkers are some of the deadliest "Game of Thrones" villains.

Well-applied face paint and black clothing are key to creating this costume on your own.

There are great makeup tutorials on YouTube you can follow in order to transform into a White Walker. For wardrobe, a black fringed leather jacket can substitute for the dark armor the White Walkers wore in season five. Bright blue contacts are optional — the makeup shown above is painted right onto the artists' eyelids.

If being a hero is more your thing, Jon Snow is the way to go.

One super fan named Sebastian has a full YouTube explanation on how to get Jon Snow's look. Pretty spot on, if you ask us.

This DIY effort requires lots of sewing, according to the fan's blog posts. You will need faux leather, belt buckles, and a black fur cape. Black boots and a modified sword are also essential.

Sebastian spent approximately £90 ($138) on materials for the costume. Though that may seem steep, the pre-made versions are only slightly less ($124.99) and don't include the sword. And if you don't have naturally dark and curly hair like Jon Snow, Amazon recommends a women's wig.

And who would Jon Snow be without his beloved direwolf, Ghost?

This clever get-up on requires some fake fur and face paint.

This adaptation of Ghost will also require a bit of craftsmanship. It almost looks like two sheepskin rugs sewn together, along with a crafted hood.

One DIY professional posted step-by-step instructions on making your own fur hood; all you need is the fabric. Then dab on some white face paint, and draw a black nose. Voila! A direwolf worthy of any Halloween party.

Daenerys Targaryen rocked a cape-dress during much of season five.

A convertible wrap-dress can replicate the look, according to one Pinterest post.

A white or ivory maxi dress with convertible sleeves is perfect for adapting Daenerys' queenly look. If your hair doesn't look like hers, there are plenty of Targaryen-inspired wigs to choose from. Don't forget some plush dragons and themed jewelry to complete the costume.

Daenerys' first husband, Khal Drogo, is one of the most iconic warriors from the series.

Blue body paint and killer facial hair are the key elements to recreating his look. This example is actually a woman!

YouTube is a great source for makeup tutorials. There are male and female versions, as seen above. The essentials are blue body paint, a fake scar, and false facial hair for those who can't grow it themselves.

Emma Pickles' video description outlines every product used to achieve the perfect Khal Drogo makeup. For the outfit, dedicated fans should spring for a gladiator style belt (about $75 online), and brown western "chaps" to emulate his Dothraki horse-hide pants. A long black wig is the perfect final touch.

Bran and Hodor are a popular duo for costume pairs. But carrying a friend on your back might get tiresome.

This genius figured out how to dress up like Hodor and Bran with no added weight.

Hodor dresses almost exactly like a Franciscan monk, so picking up his signature brown robe should be a breeze around Halloween season. To replicate this cereal box "Bran" pun, you'll need a harness as well. The real leather ones are tough to come by on the cheap, but this photographers' harness would do the trick.

And of course, the final piece of the costume is a slightly modified box of Raisin Bran.

Melisandre is the priestess of R'hllor, known for dressing head to toe in red.

A red wig and matching dress can quickly transform you into the fire priestess.

Start with a red Renaissance or Medieval-inspired dress. You'll need a long red wig in order to replicate Melisandre's wavy locks. Her character is also known for wearing a red-jeweled necklace, and once crafty Etsy artist has recreated the choker. This key detail will set you back $35.

If you can't pick a favorite character, you can always go as the author of the series: George R.R. Martin.

Suspenders, a beard, and the perfect hat should do the trick.

George R.R. Martin is known for always wearing the same hat: a black fisherman's cap. If you really want to get specific, the cap is usually donned with a turtle-shaped brooch — Martin's adopted "sigil."

Black suspenders and a button-up shirt are the other key elements to a George R.R. Martin costume. And you can't forget the beard! Martin keeps his trimmed short, so you may have to modify a store-bought one.
