The "Game of Thrones" cast is making the late-night rounds this week in anticipation for the show's return. Wednesday evening, Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, appeared on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" to discuss her characters' story arc in the new season.

When we last saw Arya, she was blinded by Jaqen H'ghar as a punishment for killing a man.

Meyers asked Williams how the show is pulling that off — "Is that CGI or do you have to wear contacts?"

It turns out Williams is wearing some pretty thick, painful contact lenses.

"I had to wear these really thick contact lenses that were like 16mm and hand painted, so they looked all murky," she described. "They were so, so painful."

"But you guys are like, 'You're an actress, stop complaining,'" Williams quickly joked.

Meyers pointed out that many people are wearing contacts every day, but not ones like these.

"But these are like 16mm wide, how wide are your contact lenses?" she asked.

Williams went on to describe the lenses a little more, which were shown off in a clip for the new season which debuted during the late-night show.

"They were really painful, but those were only for the super, super closeups," explained Williams. "Whenever I got a bit physical, like you saw in the clip, I had ones with little pin-pricked holes in them so I could see more. That was kind of so as I wouldn't hit anyone for safety reasons."

Williams said she still ended up hitting one of her costars, Faye Marsay, many times.

The actress previously spoke about first trying out contacts at the end of season five at last year's San Diego Comic-Con.

"They're really really thick ... to get into your eye. But once they're in it took a couple of minutes to get a bit more comfortable," she had said.
