Virtually every major clothing brand has its own take on the zip-up hoodie, so finding the absolute best one for your buck is more difficult than ever.

Comfort and style are main factors to take into consideration when shopping for a new one, but durability should also be on there on your list. If you want a hoodie that ticks all of these boxes, Flint and Tinder's 10 Year Hoodie may be for you.

Tired of expensive clothes falling apart after a few months of wear, Flint and Tinder founder Jake Bronstein wanted to expose "planned obsolescence" — a term manufacturers use to identify a product's limited lifespan — and create pieces that would last for years. Or in this case, a decade.

In 2013, Bronstein launched a Kickstarter campaign for the 10 Year Hoodie, which was so popular it became the site's first $1 million fashion project.

As the name suggests, Flint and Tinder specially designed the hoodie so you will still have it a decade later. The hoodie is made from an unshrinkable, yet super soft, fleece and is arguably more structured than the others hoodies currently hanging in your closet. For extra durability, it also features custom, heavy-duty zippers and reinforced seams. But on the off chance your hoodie tears, Flint and Tinder promises to repair it.

At $98, the hoodie doesn't come cheap, but just think of all the money you'll save on sub-par hoodies if this one lives up to its promise.

The guys of the Insider Picks team have tested out other hoodies before, but this one is quickly becoming a new favorite. We can't confirm it'll hold up for 10 years — check back with us in 2026 — but here are our initial thoughts:

Breton Fischetti, senior director, commerce:

I've now had the chance to test a bunch of hoodies for Insider Picks, and Flint and Tinder's 10 Year Hoodie is right up at the top.

It's got the right amount of heft to it, while still being light. To say that it's going to last 10 years in the name is a pretty bold statement, but the piece might last that long based on their investment in materials and construction. The fit is just right too: Slim but not tight, with enough stretch that you can move around in it. If you're the kind of person who really appreciates a good hoodie, this is one to own.

Zip-up hoodies are one of my go-to pieces of apparel for fall and spring. The nights are getting cooler, but I still want be outside or on my roof before the temperatures get so low that I have to spend five minutes bundling up before going out for a coffee run.

Flint and Tinder makes a solid zip-up hoodie. It’s soft  — as any good hoodie should be — and sits really well on my shoulders. It also feels sturdy in that I’m not all that concerned with it falling apart after a good amount of use, as a few of my zip-ups have in the past — hence the name “10 Year Hoodie” I guess. At $98, it’s a solid investment for an article of clothing you can wear almost every day for a few months out of the year.

Brandt Ranj, commerce reporter, tech:

It hasn't really been hoodie season this summer, but I've actually used my Flint and Tinder hoodie to keep me warm when the AC is cranked up here in the office. Before, I had to decide whether I wanted to freeze in a polo shirt or wear a long-sleeved shirt and be uncomfortable during my commute. Instead, I put my hoodie on over the polo and get the best of both worlds.

This hoodie is so comfortable that during one of those days, I actually forgot to take it off before going outside and only realized once I felt warmer than I thought I would.

Flint and Tinder's 10 Year Hoodie retails for $98 and is available in five great colors, black, gray, navy, green, and oatmeal.
