Not long ago, a controversy surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement spilled into public view. People at the Facebook were crossing out the statement "Black Lives Matter" on the signature wall at the company's headquarters, and ignoring warnings to stop. Mark Zuckerberg stepped in, writing an angry post on the company's private group that got shared with reporters.
On Friday, a large group of Facebook employees appeared to join Zuckerberg in rejecting these anonymous attempts to silence the Black Lives Matter movement. Matthew Sena, whose LinkedIn lists him as a "Talent Adviser" for Facebook, posted this on his personal Instagram:
A good leader can engage in a debate frankly and thoroughly, knowing that at the end he and the other side must be closer, and thus emerge stronger. You don't have that idea when you are arrogant, superficial, and uninformed.
Black Lives Matter is a movement that took its name after George Zimmerman was acquitted in the killing of the teenager Trayvon Martin. As more and more incidents of police brutality have become visible in recent years, the movement has sought change in American policing practices and other examples of inequality.
Sena posted an image of a Black Lives Matter sign at Facebook HQ once before Zuckerbergs's post on the subject became public:
