Everyone is using this bizarre app to swap faces with their friends and Donald Trump

The app, as you might have guessed from the name, let's you swap faces with anyone from work colleagues to presidential candidates to your dog using your phone. 

The results are hilarious and we're not the only ones having fun with this app. On February 10, the app was topping the charts in the Apple app store, The Verge reported

The Face Swap Live app costs $0.99 in the Apple app store. Here's what it looks like on my home screen.

When you open the app, you have to give it permission to use your microphone.

And your camera.

You'll be given the option to swap photos with another person or use a pre-existing image. To use a pre-existing image, tap "Use Photo."

Using your front-facing camera, position your face in the frame.

I decided to swap my face with Donald Trump by tapping Trump's picture along the bottom of my screen. There are a lot of other face options to choose from.

This is what I looked like as Trump. Note the "PHOTO" icon is highlighted in pink in this photo. You can also swap faces in "MASK" mode by tapping the purple "MASK" icon at the top of the screen.

If you're looking to swap faces with a favorite celebrity or movie character, you can easily search for specific images of them in the app. First, tap "Internet."

And then type in the name of your chosen person. I went with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

To import your own pictures to use, just tap "Import" in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

Then either take a photo with your camera or add one from your library and follow the same steps.

You can also use the app to switch faces with another person in the same photo. Tap "Swap" in the lower right-hand corner.

Then grab a friend. The app will put blue and yellow lines around each of your faces. Once you're lined up, your faces will swap. Tap the red camera on the bottom of the screen to take a picture.

Here's what that will look like. From there, you can tap "Share" to make sure all your friends see your smashed masterpiece.

You can also use the app to take videos. To do that, tap the video camera icon once to start filming and then tap it again to stop.

Once you're done filming you'll have the option to trim your video, turn it into a GIF, or share it with friends.

All your pictures and videos save to your Face Smash library. Check them out by tapping this icon in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
