'DOOM' may have just been accidentally released several days early

It looks like "DOOM" has struck Hollywood.

Twitter user Tyler Chatham tweeted out a picture of several copies of the upcoming shooter "DOOM" ahead of the game's scheduled May 13 release date. Chatham confirmed to Tech Insider that the picture was taken at a Target in Hollywood, CA, but further details are still slim.

"DOOM" is the highly-anticipated reboot of the classic shooter series, which first came out in the early '90s and essentially created the first-person shooter genre. The new "DOOM" is scheduled to come out on May 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but it looks like it might be available now in some places (accidentally or not).

Target did not respond to request to comment as of publishing.

Update: A few readers have emailed us pictures of store displays in their local Walmarts that have "DOOM" on the shelves early, too.
