A dog with 2 noses got a second chance at life after being adopted by a 'Freakshow' owner

Toby is an Australian Shepard with one distinct feature that makes him different from other dogs — he has two noses.

Back in 2014, Toby was brought in off the streets of Fresno, California, and into a shelter by an animal rescue group, ABC reports

"He would make a good pet because he's lovable and he likes to play fetch," a shelter employee explained. "I'm pretty sure he gets along well with children."

But because of his unique nose, nobody wanted to adopt Toby — until Todd Ray came along.

"He was picked up by the dog catcher," Ray told The Huffington Post. "I heard about him and contacted them and they said it was almost at the end of his time. They were going to put him down."

Luckily for Toby, Ray is no stranger to unique creatures. He owns a two-legged chihuahua and a five-legged miniature doberman pinscher. Ray also holds the world record for owning the most two-headed animals. You might recognize him as the face of AMC's "Freakshow," which features Ray's business the Venice Beach Freakshow

"I call him Toby-One Kenobi, but also Toby Two-Nose — that sounds like a gangster name," Ray told The Huffington Post about his newest dog.

Toby's nose is just a cosmetic defect that hasn't affected his overall health, according to the BBC. "He was actually born like that because he doesn't have scar tissue on the top," one shelter employee told ABC affiliate KFSN.

In fact, Toby looks a lot like Snuffles, a dog who also appears to have two noses and lives in Scotland, the Daily Mail reports. While Snuffles might look like he's got multiple noses just like Toby, his appearance is actually the result of a palate defect that caused his nostrils to split.

Other than looking a little different than other dogs, Toby and Snuffles are totally healthy — and very friendly.

"Everyone that meets Toby loves him," Ray told the BBC.

While Ray adopted Toby over a year ago, the dog is making headlines once again after Ray shared a video of the dog on the Venice Beach Freakshow YouTube channel. You can watch that below.
