DJ Khaled is the poster boy for Snapchat right now. His jet ski and gardening escapades on Snapchat make news headlines on a regular basis, and it's not difficult to find parody accounts devoted entirely to his many "keys to success."

What Khaled appreciates about Snapchat is how the social network is designed to let you share your real self.

"When you push the button I ain’t got time to act," the "I'm So Hood" producer told Tech Insider in an exclusive interview. "What is it, 10 seconds? Five seconds? I don’t know how long it is. You push the button and I’m just being me. You can hear it in my voice. You can see it in my eyes. It’s just being me."

But why is he sharing his life's adventures primarily on Snapchat versus other social media?

"Snapchat is straight up raw," Khaled said. "There ain’t someone on there trying to tell you how your shirt look. There ain’t haters."

You can see what Khaled is talking about when you observe how millennials use Instagram. Many teenagers use secret, private Instagram accounts to share unedited, funny photos with their close friends. Then they'll have a fake Instagram account, or "Finstagram," for sharing artistic, heavily edited photos that are meant to attract followers.

There's no need for such behavior on Snapchat, Khaled argues, because everything you share eventually disappears.

"Snapchat is not only an amazing invention, but it disappears in 24 hours," he explained. "So it makes it more interesting what you gonna snap next. So if you follow your best friend or your favorite celebrity it’s kind of like you may not be with them that day, but you’re with them. You know what I mean?"

Yes we do, Khaled. Yes we do.
