Soften butter faster by rolling it out first.

 

A lot of recipes call for softened butter, but if you forget to take it out of the fridge before you start baking, your butter can take awhile to soften.

Place the butter between a length of saran wrap and roll it out with a rolling pin — the increased surface area will help the butter soften much faster.
