The new 'Call of Duty' game is called 'Infinite Warfare'

Like "Madden Football" and paying taxes, there are some things you can count on happening once every year. Such is the case for the "Call of Duty" first-person shooter game series.

Since 2016 is, as it turns out, another year, we're on the verge of a new "Call of Duty" game getting revealed. This year's game is subtitled "Infinite Warfare," and it's likely coming from Infinity Ward, the studio that created series classics like "Call of Duty 2" and "Modern Warfare."

We can't be sure of the studio in charge of the game just yet, though, and that's because the game hasn't been "officially" announced by its publisher Activision. It has, however, shown up on the PlayStation 4's storefront as a featured item:

And yes, we asked — the official word from Activision is "No comment" at the moment, but this quite literally happens every year around the same time. You can safely bet your friend Ginny a stone-cold Lincoln that the new "Call of Duty" game is about to get announced, and it's called "Infinite Warfare."

We'll have more on this year's "Call of Duty" — which is rumored to be set in a futuristic sci-fi setting — in the coming weeks. Expect it to arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this holiday season.
