A British Airways flight attendant died onboard a plane shortly before it was due to depart from London for Hong Kong, reports say.
Metro reported that a 52-year-old male flight attendant was preparing for take-off on December 30 when he fell to the floor. A passenger administered first aid after the captain called for help, the publication reported.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson told Business Insider that it was called to Heathrow's Terminal 5 at 5:45 p.m. on December 30 and dispatched an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast-response car, a paramedic on a bicycle, and a trauma team.
"Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a patient was pronounced dead at the scene," the spokesperson said.
Passengers were booked into hotels nearby and departed on a flight the next day instead, Metro reported.
British Airways operates daily 13-hour flights on route BA31 from London Heathrow to Hong Kong, departing at 5:40 p.m. local time.
Records from flight-tracking site FlightAware indicate that no flight departed on that route on December 30, and that two flights flew that route on December 31 instead.
