New drone footage of Apple's massive 'spaceship' campus shows huge progress

Apple is making serious progress on its massive 'spaceship' campus.

YouTuber Matthew Roberts flew his DJI Phantom 3 over the Apple Campus 2 project site. His drone footage shows Apple has made serious progress in Phase 2 of the project, which involves adding additional buildings along Tantau Avenue in Cupertino, California.

The new headquarters in Cupertino, California will house more than 12,000 employees. Here we see the main building of Apple Campus 2 that resembles a massive spaceship.

The main building is now being equipped with passive cooling and heating systems that will allow Apple to use natural ventilation for 75% of the year.

Solar installation on the main building is coming along. When the project is finished, it will have 700,000 solar panels.

The Campus 2 parking garage, which can house 11,000 vehicles, has most of its solar panels installed.

But perhaps the biggest news coming from the drone footage is that Apple is making progress on Phase 2 of its project: building more structures on Tantau Avenue.

Phase 2 involves adding 10 small research and development facilities along North Tantau Avenue, the eastern boundary of the Campus 2 site, Apple Insider reported.

The underground portion of its auditorium is also almost done.

And the 80-ton, carbon fiber roof has been successfully installed.

The network of tunnels connecting the campus is getting covered with dirt.

The campus also has a 10,000 square-foot fitness center that seems to be coming along nicely.
