If you've been on Facebook lately, you may have noticed some of your friends sharing a status about a mother and daughter eating cookies at a Neiman Marcus Cafe in Dallas, Texas. As the story goes, the pair order a special "Neiman Marcus Cookie," and when they ask for the recipe, the waitress tells them it costs "two fifty."

A month later, the woman gets her credit card bill and discovers a $250 charge on her account from NiemanMarcus, a far cry from the $2.50 she was expecting. When she confronts the store about the charge, she is told that the recipe costs that much to help keep it a secret.

As revenge, the woman is now sharing the recipe and asking that you send the delicious instructions to everyone you know to get back at the store.

Here's a look at part of the post. It's quite a lengthy tale.

Sound ridiculous? It should.

Turns out it's a totally bogus story that has been circulating the internet since 1996, Snopes reports. In fact, there was even a copy-cat version about a cookie recipe at a Woolworth's in South Africa that made the rounds on 2008. We've reached out to Neiman Marcus for comment and will update this post when we hear back.

Of course, you can still bake the cookies from the phony post. They're just probably not worth $250.

Here's the recipe if you want to give it a try.
