Videos comparing the most popular styles from the past 100 years have been making the rounds online lately, whether they deal with women's beauty looks or men's hairstyles.

But now a new video is being passed around, with a twist: this one is showing not only the most glamorous women of each time period, but also what the typical woman would have looked like.

It's a departure from Cut Video's typical "100 Years of Beauty" videos, which show the ideal woman from each decade. Read on to see how the videos compare.

The minute-long videos provide a fascinating look at how beauty standards change over time, and they're racking up millions of views.

But blogger Karolina Żebrowska saw something was missing from the videos: real women. So she made her own version showing beauty ideals from each decade from 1900 to 1940...

... Plus an equivalent look that showed what the typical woman — not a movie star or socialite — would have looked like.

"As a person interested in the history of fashion and beauty it really bugged me how inaccurate some of these are," Żebrowska wrote on her blog.

So after each image of the ideal beauty look of the time period, she includes a look that's more representative of the typical woman.

"At first I wanted to compare stereotypical beauty standards in history with the image that was truly popular in particular decades," she wrote.

"But when doing research I realized there's also something else - all of these videos concentrate on the ideals of beauty, and there's none focusing on reality!"
