10 high-tech features in this year’s Super Bowl stadium

Super Bowl 50 will be played in one of the most high-tech stadiums in the world.

Completed just two years ago, the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara cost some $1.2 billion to build and is loaded with a wealth of innovative features.

Given that the stadium is in the heart of Silicon Valley, there was a big effort to make the stadium technologically advanced. But there was also a lot of attention given to making the stadium as sustainable as possible.

Here's a look at some of the most impressive technologies and sustainability efforts featured in the venue where this year's Super Bowl is taking place.

It has its own Wi-Fi network so fans are always connected.

There are over 400 miles of cable throughout the stadium and more than 1,000 Wi-Fi access points, making it so the access points are within 10 feet of every seat. REUTERS/Mike Segar

 

 

There's a stadium app that enables people to order food from their stadium seats. It also helps the locate the nearest restroom without a line.

Bluetooth beacons connect with attendees' smartphone, helping guide them to their seat.

There are almost 70,000 seats in the stadium, but that doesn't mean finding your seat has to be difficult. The stadium app uses the Bluetooth beacons to help guide guests to their seats. HNTB

It has almost 20,000 solar panels.

It also has a 27,000 square foot rooftop garden with 16 drought tolerant plant species.

Visitors can also check to see how much energy was consumed at the stadium on game day.

The stadium uses 85% recycled water for things like irrigation.

More than 600 security cameras are placed throughout the stadium.

And there are more than 2,000 Sony TVs inside the venue, as well as 70 4K TVs, located in the suites.

There are also two giant LED displays at the end of each end zone. Each display is 48 feet tall and 200 feet long. HTNB

Fans can also keep their devices powered with one of the 200 phone charging stations placed throughout the stadium.
